Developed by Spiritwind Christian Centre 2004.
Noah’s Ark Childcare came about as a result of the staff at the Guelph Food Bank seeing a need in our community through budget counselling and an assistance survey of clients. Many people could return to work to a full-time position in the work force if they could find quality childcare. The shortage of placement spaces for quality care and the long waiting list for availability prompted us to meet a need.
Care at Noah’s Ark Childcare (NAC) will be provided by 25 full-time workers. NAC will provide care for 114 registered children. We have spots for 16 Infants, 30 Toddlers, 48 Preschoolers, and a JK/SK program that will accommodate 20 children.
The centre is bright, clean, and cheerful and is decorated to stimulate young minds and help children to learn.

Noah’s Ark Childcare provides children with a safe friendly environment. The Centre is a place for children to develop socially, emotionally, physically, and intellectually through a number of developmental activities.
Our programming is designed to let children make choices, take responsibility, and learn how to make decisions that will further enhance their self-growth and self-worth.
Activities are designed to encourage creativity, foster socialization, and increase physical development. These activities consist of music, dramatic play, arts and crafts, cooking, sensory experience, and outdoor play.
The staff are responsible to support each individual child and his/her family. Ongoing and open communication allows a child to recognize boundaries and learn limitations with consistency between the Childcare Centre, home environment, and the surrounding community.
Preparing a child for his/her future involvement in the school system is important. The child will be challenged intellectually, preparing him/her for entry into the school system.

1. Secure and Safe
Small children take comfort in our nurturing atmosphere. Parents feel more secure knowing security measures are in place and enforced every day. All doors are alarmed to sound when opening and closing. Parents must sign the child in and out each day. Plans are in place for dealing with emergencies. All staff and volunteers must have a current police check prior to working with the children.
2. Clean
Even very small children wash their hands before eating, after using the bathroom, and after play. Teachers routinely sanitize toys and furniture between uses. We are always careful to wear gloves when changing infants. We can't be too careful where young children are concerned.
3. A Warm And Happy Place
Noah’s Ark Childcare is full of friends. Every day, children count on smiles and hugs from teachers and volunteers. Children love spending time with their peers. Dramatic play, group games, stacking blocks, and singing songs all give small children a chance to talk, share, giggle, and learn together.
4. Fun And Learning
Learning is fun all day long. When children think they're playing, they're actually developing and learning skills that help prepare them for school. Our experienced ECE teachers and staff know that young children learn by doing. Directed play is one of the best ways to help them learn. We make sure there's a big dose of fun in every hands-on learning experience.
5. Growth
We know that helping children grow means paying attention to all aspects of their development. Our caring teachers work every day to help little people grow and develop cognitively, physically, and socially - all important aspects of early learning.
6. Nourishment
We know that a child's day will go more smoothly when he or she has delicious nutritious food, fresh air to play in, and plenty of opportunity to express themselves. Our cook prepares nutritious meals.
7. People Come First
We built Noah’s Ark Childcare on the commitment and devotion of our people. Fully trained ECE / ECA teachers help to assure a warm, secure, and caring professional service for your child.
8. Communication
Frequent communication between you and your child's teacher is essential. We guarantee regular written reports - every day for infants, toddlers, and pre-schoolers.
9. Flexibility
Parents are busy people, so we do our best to make it easy for you. Our hours of care are from 6:45 am to 6:15 pm.
10. Come By Any Time
Parents are more than welcome to stop in and visit any time. We are here to help you in the growth, nurture, and care of your children.

Infants (3 months to 17 months)
Your baby will be safe, nurtured, and loved. Cuddling and holding very young children is a big part of what we do every day. Our infant rooms are filled with places where babies can roll, sit, crawl, pull up, and walk. As they try new things, our teachers and staff are always right there providing plenty of warm praise and encouragement. Our goal is for "loving" and "learning" to mean one and the same thing to your baby, because we know young children learn best through warm, loving relationships. Secure, nurturing situations taking place under the watchful eye of our trained professionals help teach babies to cherish and trust their world, and help them weather the ordinary ups and downs of growth and development. Even routine activities such as feeding and diapering provide opportunities for our staff members to sing, talk, hold, and interact with your young child.
Toddlers (18 months to 30 months )
Hugging and cuddling are a big part of every toddler's day. At the same time, these small people are busy finding out new things about themselves and those around them. Beginning to talk and learning to listen are just part of a toddler’s day. Toddlers climb on things, investigate cupboards, and try to take things apart. Part of the toddler’s experience is to learn about sharing and getting along with others. This is a time when they begin participating in activities for longer periods --- listening to stories, singing songs, playing games, and doing art projects. Our teachers and staff are quick to provide both encouragement and a safe, secure environment as these busy little people develop self-confidence. All our toddler activities are designed by Early Childhood Educators. Our teachers also incorporate their own ideas into each day's activities to meet your child's specific needs and developmental levels.
Pre-Schoolers (2.5 years to 5 years 11 months)
For children, a preschool is a happy place for exploring and finding out new things every day. For parents, a preschool should be a place that focuses on learning, yet never forgets the importance of fun. A great preschool encourages development but never pushes your child to grow up too fast. Activities are designed to encourage creativity, foster socialization, and increase physical development. These activities consist of music, dramatic play, arts and crafts, cooking, sensory experience, and outdoor play.
Junior Kindergarten/Senior Kindergarten (3.5 years to 5 years 11 months)
You and your child will love our accelerated program. This program, appropriate for children ages 3.5 to 5 years, includes teaching and guidance from our teachers, and a wide variety of developmentally-appropriate activities that will provide children with school readiness and assure future success in school.
